5 Things K-dramas Have Taught Me
How being accidentally sucked into K-dramas changed my life
I’m pretty new to the scene when it comes to K-dramas, having first discovered them last year as a post-exam Netflix binge. Currently on my fourth show, here are 5 things that K-dramas have changed in my life:
1 — A good skincare routine is important
Pre-K-drama, my skincare routine consisted of soap, and the occasional use of 5% benzoyl peroxide to manage the breakouts that appeared in my mid-twenties (probably due to stress). Cleanser? Nope. Moisturiser? Nope? Sunscreen? Not. I had tried the 3-in-1 cleansers from the supermarket, and even a fancy one from the mall — but they’d never produced better results than just using soap so I’d given up and decided it was all a scam.
It was a surprise then to see in “This is my first life” the care and time taken for a daily (twice-daily even) skincare routine. I did a google, and deep-dove on Youtube into the world of Korean skincare. I was astounded not only by the amount of time people put into it each day, but also the science and research behind each of the steps and the formulations.
